DIY Steam Room

Are you sick of having to go to the gym when you want to use a steam room?  Well you will be pleased to know that now there is no need to go to the gym to relax as it is possible to have them fitted in your own home.  With the new DIY steam room kits that are becoming increasingly popular it is easier than ever to do what you want when you want.

DIY Steam Room

DIY Steam Room between 5.5 and 8.5 Cubic Metres

This kit will provide everything you need to install a DIY steam room in your own bathroom.  The generator is a 7kw and is guaranteed for 2 years.  There is a thermostat that you can programme to suit your own needs and this along with the timer provides a steam outlet vent.  If you need it there will also be an insulated water proof board that can be placed on the wall and tiled over if needs be.  This system is ideal for fitting into already constructed shower cubicles and as the seat is fold down it will not take up room when the steam room is just being used as a shower.

The cost of the basic kit is under £700 including VAT and the board will be priced depending on the size required.  The seat will be extra and cost in the region of £450. There are detailed instructions for installation.

Building from Scratch

If a DIY kit has proved too expensive it is possible to buy the parts individually and build it to your own design.  Even if the shower has been custom built there will be ways to put in a DIY steam room and in fact this may be the best way to do it as you will be able to buy the exact size components you need.

When buying a generator is it important to get one that is the right size for the size of the DIY steam room.  The main problem you will face if you neglect this advice is the generator being too large and thus making it difficult to control the temperature.  This could result in scalding or at least being at an uncomfortable temperature until you manage to get it right.  One that is too small will take too long to heat up.

Fitting the Generator in a DIY Steam Room

The generator in your DIY steam room will be easy to install and should not need a great deal of maintenance.  As long as it is fitted in a dry place and is within about 40 feet of the steam room there should not be a problem.  You can have a DIY steam room of the same sort of standard as many hotels – although it may be a little smaller.  It is possible to put in a seat so as you can fully relax and enjoy the heat.  To add to the experience you can have your favourite music piped in by way of waterproof speakers.

Things to Remember

When installing a DIY steam room it is best to remember to make sure that the ceiling slopes so as the condensation does not drop back into the unit.  Also ensure that the steam nozzles do not face the seat as there is the risk of steam scalding a sitting user.  Once this is done wait a day for the parts to settle down and then enjoy your new DIY steam room.
