Steam Room Equipment

Regardless of whether you are putting a steam room into your house or having one installed in a hotel or fitness centre there will be roughly the same steam room equipment needed. The only differences will be the quality and obviously the size. The main things that will have to be bought are a generator, dome, nozzle, seat and then other extras that you may want such as waterproof speakers so you can relax and listen to your favourite music.

Steam Room Equipment

The Main Piece of Equipment

The generator will be one of the main pieces of steam room equipment that you need.  It will be easy to find the right size for the steam room you are constructing and most can be fitted with a minimum amount of fuss.  If they are fitted correctly they should not need a great deal of maintenance but just in case something goes wrong try to put them in a place where an engineer will easily be able to reach it.  Norp/Helo are some of the top of the range generators and prices start at around £1000 for a generator to be used at home.  A heavy duty generator is going to be considerably more at around £2,300.

Additional Steam Room Equipment

  • Waterproof lights will make the area seem bright and can make all the difference to the experience.  There can be just one to make it look bright or a selection that can be made into a design and become part of the decoration.

  • For larger steam rooms there will need to be a vent pipe.  This will not often be the case for home steam rooms but if they are the sort that hotels and sports facilities have where a lot of people use them at the same time then it is recommended.

  • Fold up seats can be used in smaller steam and will be the best choice if this is going to be a steam room that is in the same cubicle as the shower.  For larger rooms there is no problem with having static seats or even benches allowing you to lie down and relax even more.

  • Many steam rooms have a system whereby fragrances can be pumped in and you can buy aromatherapy sets. This may not be necessary at home but if the steam room is being shared with a lot of people you don’t know then it may be a nice touch.  There are two ways to do this: you can either mix them in with the water or you can place them into the automatic pump.

The only thing that may come as a bit of a surprise is how much the entire steam room can cost.  When choosing one the price does not often include all the steam room equipment you need and so the price you originally thought of will very rarely be the price you end up paying.  How much steam room equipment you purchase will be up to you and there are some things that you can add at a later date.  When having the original system fitted it will be best to find out how easy it will be to add to in the future.
